Arrgh… the creeping crud

October 10th, 2005

The sickness has its hold. Grrr… I hate having colds. I’ve spent the entire day in bed trying to get rid of a sore throat. Meanwhile missing out on all the excitement that NYC has to offer. I’ve been fighting it for the past week, and a weekend of late nights has pushed the balance to sick. Blargh.

What a couple of weeks it has been!

Yesterday Marshall and I decided to visit the Natural History Museum. Wow! What a place. Talk about entering into halls of giants. After four hours of butterflies, dinosaurs, and space I have to say that my brain was full. And, we had barely scraped the surface of all that the place has to offer. I can’t wait to go back and soak up more knowledge and see more fabulous things.

We’ve been a little on edge about the subway threats here, but figure that we can’t let something like that stop us from living our lives here. The police presence in the underground was definitely beefed up, which helped us feel a bit safer. However, we did try to plan our movements around the major train stops. Marshall even went so far as to pay for my taxi ride all the way uptown to work on Friday so that I wouldn’t be on the subway that day. Expensive, but a small prive to pay for peace of mind in the long-run. Personal vigilance, too, is becoming a familiar constant in this place where sometimes one can forget that regardless of how fun it is here, it is also big and dangerous.

What else have we done? Everything…
