TWIS on TWIT

April 1st, 2010

Dear TWIS Minions,

This Week in Science is making a few changes.

After 10 years of broadcasting live just about every Tuesday morning from KDVS 90.3 FM in Davis, CA, TWIS is making a move.

As of 8:00 pm PT on Monday, April 12th, 2010, TWIS will broadcast live on Leo Laporte’s This Week in Tech Network.

It only seems natural that the TWI’s join forces as many people have been confused by the separate worlds of TWIS and TWIT for years anyway.

So, from April 12th onward TWIS will be live in video format on TWIT every Monday night at 8pm PT.

TWIS will continue to exist on KDVS, but as a pre-recorded show only.

You will also be able to continue to subscribe to and download TWIS as an audio rss feed without making any changes. We are keeping the feed address the same.

We think that the new format and platform will work together to make TWIS better than ever, and we’ll keep bringing you quality science infotainment.

Thanks for listening. We look forward to seeing you at live.twit.tv on Monday nights.

It’s all in your head,
–kirsten and Justin

I’m sad to hear this as it means I can no longer be a listener. I cannot support anything on the TWIT network.

Looking forward to the video! Good luck with the change! Hope you don’t lose the disclaimers.

I think this will be a great move, Love your show over there already. Will enjoy the live video feed.

    Seems like a natural move.

Congrats. Now if we can only get Dr. Tiki on Dr. Kiki’s show too, the whole podcasting universe will collapse in on itself. :)

Also, Jeff - WTF? You just going to leave that turd in the road without explanation?

How dependent on the video is the new format? Though I haven’t been listening to the TWiT empire much since they killed the Ogg Vorbis feed, I don’t really have a PROBLEM with them.

I would have a problem trying to watch video on my commute rather than listening to audio, though…

Great news. I’m really looking forward to what you can do with a video feed on TWIS, I think that can expand the show in a very cool way.

It sounds like the video will only be live or on odtv for now, any chance of TWIS being an actual video download from TWIT in the future?

But will there still be a disclaimer! disclaimer! disclaimer! (?) ;)

Is there a way to access an audio version of your show? I have been googling madly for the past few days and i do not see anything on the twit network page, or on twis.org. Since I listen at work where there is a bandwidth restriction I am not able to tune into the TWIT-live broadcast. Any help would be appreciated.

Now that you have moved your show, this week in science, will it still be available on a podcast?

Will the old RSS for TWIS still work, or should I go hunt that down?

You should have our editors from Skatter Tech on the show! We’re UC Davis students!

Why can I still not find a page for TWIS on the TWIT website ? Kinda makes no sense…
I luuuuv the show, always listen on my ipod, but it has video too, and I’d love to have apeek at the screen every now and then while listening. Any chance this might be possible in the near future ?
