What’s Your Favorite Droid App?

November 19th, 2009

I just got the Motorola Droid, and am absolutely loving it. I may just be falling prey to the siren song of Google, but it’s a sweet ride into oblivion so far.

Do you have a Droid? What do you think? What are your favorite apps? Curious minds want to know…

My favorite by far is Google Sky Map. It really shows off all of the main features of an Android phone (I have an HTC Hero). It uses the compass, GPS, and accelerometer to allow you to just point at the sky and see the constellations, planets, and Messier objects that are at that spot.

I am loving my Droid as well.

    Favorite preloaded app: Maps/Navigate

Favorite added apps (all free; I haven’t paid for an app yet):
Droid Live Lite (access to thousands of Internet radio stations)
    Pandora (access to streaming music)
Twidroid (but I’ll defect as soon as a TweetDeck app appears)
    Evernote
    ShopSavvy (comparison shopping via UPC)
GPS Status (much better than it sounds. Includes a compass and a level. Yes, a level)

    Hey Kirsten,

My favorite app for Droid is the hack scientist removal tool. Just kidding, that app doesn’t exist yet, but I sure hope someone creates it quickly. Just to be absolutely clear, that bares no reflection on you.

Here is a really good article from the Wall Street Journal called “Climategate: Follow the Money”. Here is the link.

Dockrunner = no need for a docking station plus makes my DROID the perfect alarm clock.

Skymap = amazing nights actually learning about the sky.

Sleep Timer = peaceful way to fall asleep listening to PANDORA which is simply awesome.

I love my DROID and we have only just begun.

I have the Sprint HTC Hero, a cousin of the Droid. I use “My Shopping List” all the time. So does my wife. She sends me her list of things to pick up on my way home from work.

Don’t know about favorite apps, but trying to figure out how to get Dr. Sanford’s photo as wallpaper on home page. First things first, you know!

GPIslander: Save the picture and get it to the phone (save via browser or email it via computer). Once its on the phone, on your home screen, press the “Settings” button and select “Wallpaper”. Choose the “Gallery” option and find the saved photo. Adjust the view if needed and select save. Enjoy!
