I came across your blog today, watched your video, and read this post. I really enjoyed the video, and especially the music. Seeing your video absolutley transformed my impression of Russia. I was amazed at how modern it looked. From news reports I had the impression it was still a broken-down decrepit place!

This was fascinating. Honest and thoughtful. So often the great work you do online is performed on the surface, no time or room for deeper reflection. You're like a bird that seems to walk on water simply because it's racing full tilt across it. I'm glad you had a chance to slow down and dip beneath the waves. And I hope you keep us abreast of your evolving relationship with science and technology. Your observations in the pensive sea of blue green walls and flowing curtains are as important as what you see and report in the bright light up top.

I was in Russia in 2004 and your writing about it makes me want to go back! I spent most of my time at Lake Baikal (awesome place). Did you get to experience a Russian banya? That was one of my favorite things in Russia. I also liked visiting dachas, their weekend homes outside the city. I agree that the language barrier is difficult. Their English was usually so much better than my Russian!

Maybe you should write a post for this month's Scientae Canival about transitions. It sounds like your relationship with technology might be 'in transition.'

Epic, indeed.
Wow, what an experience for you. Congratulations on being able to have such an adventure so early in life. Could certainly be a life-changing trip.
I agree that it is certainly difficult to try to capture the sights, the sounds, and the culture of the Russian people in words in a blog post. You performed the task admirably. Thanks for the peek into your venture.
