This isn't really a comment on robots more on evolution and inteligent design. I thougt you might want to take a look at Christopher Cardinal Schönborn, Cardinal and Archbishop of Vienna new book called "Chance or Purpose". I not sure you would remeber this, but the good Cardinal was major push behind the Inteligent Design Theory when an article he wrote appeared in the New York Times in July 2005. Well in his new book he expands on that but also talks some what at length about evolution. Frank Wilson from the Philadelphia Inquier did a book review on "Chance and Purpose", I though you might want to take a gander even if you are not motivated to read the book.
