		<description>Dear Dr. Kirsten,

A month or so back I was surfing the net and stumbled across your TV show Food Science. I liked it very much. Tres Cool!
So naturally I looked around to see if you had any content on the web and came across your other show “This Week in Science”, which I am just starting to check out. Then further googling led me to your website and your comments on the video game "Left Behind: Eternal Forces".

If I may I would like to share a little about your comment. You absolutely pegged the rapture nonsense. Most Orthodox Christians don't believe in the Rapture. Ironically it's not even it the Bible per say, it's a Protestant misunderstanding/ misinterpretation of Catholic Scripture as is bible alone (Sola Scriptura) and Sola Fida (saved by faith alone) which Catholics also don't believe either. Okay I’ll admit it, I am Catholic and love it. Why?

Because Catholics have this crazy idea that faith and reason must walk hand and hand. Meaning we should have a rationale explanation for that which we believe and profess. We don't believe something strictly just because the Pope says so. Well that is not entirely true. There are limited cases where the Church has defined dogma in areas where there is a lack of information and will likely never know whether they got perfectly right until we die. But that is where faith and oral tradition come as well. As well Christ’s guarantee, that the Gate’s of hell will never prevail against his Church.

As for your comment about religious wars, yes there have been some major battles between Christianity and Islam with the Battle of LePonto being the most important. Be grateful we won that one because if we hadn't you would be wearing your hijab helping your husbands other wives cook and clean the Kitchen. Oh and you wouldn't have a PHD either. (By the way congratulations on that, your PhD.)

You know a lot of great scientists have been Catholic, Copernicus, Newton, Galileo, and Pascal, just to name a few. I think we have room for a Dr. Kirsten among the fold? What do you think? Are you for the challenge? I am sure you’re a little bit curious as to why some so best and brightest in science were Catholic.

If you’re interested here is a primer on what Catholics actually believe. Even if your not it’s still pretty interesting as it will clear up a lot of misconceptions. http://www.scborromeo.org/truth/truth.htm

Well Dr. Kirsten have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, I am looking forward to seeing some more of your episodes of both Food Science and This Week in Science.
